This workshop introduces the need for robust management of probationary periods following the introduction of the Employment Rights Act.
Aims & Objectives:
This workshop aims to equip your managers with the knowledge and skills to support their people through the probationary period and beyond. At the end of the training managers will be able to apply probation management strategies, including setting clear performance metrics and conducting compliant review meetings.
During the workshop we will cover:
The relevant changes in the Employment Rights Act 2025
Protection from unfair dismissal, what it means and the importance of robust processes
How to establish clear performance expectations and objectives from the outset
Goal setting with measurable outcomes
Why performance reviews and timely feedback through the probation period are a must
Preparing to provide feedback
The importance of documenting review meetings
The importance of maintaining clear documentation to support future decisions
When to extend probationary periods and how to make informed decisions about long-term employment
Managing extensions to the probation period
Timings:
Half-day training session of 3.5 hours
Methodology:
The workshop is a combination of short presentations, pair-work discussions and group interactive activities.
Participants will be asked to make themselves aware of your relevant policies and procedures.
Note:
This training is intended to walk your managers through your procedures for managing probation. Prior to delivering the training we will request copies of your current policies and management forms, which will be referenced and incorporated into the workshop.
