Everything we do at Your People Potential focuses on creating an environment where your people can reach their full potential, we want everyone to thrive at work.
What would that look like in your business?
We believe that means your staff will be happy, positive and productive, they will be self-aware enough to notice when they are struggling to cope, whether that is due to issues at home or at work, and they will have the confidence to inform their managers and colleagues, while taking steps to address their wellbeing and get back on track.
Your managers will respond positively, being available to confidently discuss health issues whether they are related to physical or mental health. Your managers will understand how best to support the individual while balancing the needs of the team. Your managers will respect appropriate boundaries and know how and where to signpost your people to receive additional support if necessary.
Your HR team will take a strategic approach to managing wellbeing, including mental health. Your people policies and practices will be aligned with the business goals. Your managers will manage their people effectively allowing HR to focus on partnering with the business and acting as an employee champion and change agent.
The October 2017 ‘Thriving at Work’ report, was commissioned by the government to review how employers can better support the mental health of all people in the workplace.
The report urges businesses to commit to six core standards around mental health:-
- Create a mental health at work plan
- Build mental health awareness by making information and support
accessible - Encourage open conversations
- Provide good working conditions and ensure employees have a healthy work-life balance
- Promote effective people management, with line managers holding
regular conversations about health and wellbeing with their staff - Routinely monitor employee mental health
At Your People Potential we have been supporting employers to do this since 2013. To find out how we can help you to remove the stigma around mental health at work call today on 01954 267640.
